The Board

The Finnish Institute of International Affairs is directed by a board appointed by Parliament and is currently chaired by Minister Antti Tanskanen.The other board members are Professor Liisa Laakso Päivi Luostarinen, Director General for the Department for Europe from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Riina Nevamäki, State Secretary from the Ministry Employment and the Economy Minister Pertti Paasio Mirja Ryynänen, former Member of the European Parliament Minister Ilkka Suominen Professor Mikko Viitasalo Thomas Wilhelmsson, Rector of the University of Helsinki. The board decides, among other things, on the Institute’s finances and research programme, which is realized by the Institute’s researchers according to the principles of academic autonomy. The board also appoints the Director of the Institute. |
